Luxophonic is a French record label based in Paris.

It’s about music, but not only.

Luxophonic is an independant record label based in Paris.

Luxophonic is not a musical system or an homogeneous record label which promote a uniform style. Luxophonic rather regards music and other artistic creations as a process of collage – a gradual assemblage of ideas, sensibility and influences. From minimalism to orchestral pop, from classical music to jazz, from soundtracks to nature sounds, Luxophonic is independant and selective.

This is not a coincidental accumulation of things, it’s rather a conscious arrangement that grows and changes with regards to both content and style, according to the listener’s individual preference and circumstances.

Luxophonic started in 2007 with the release of the acclaimed compilation « C’est merveilleux ». In 2017, Luxophonic is preparing a new release « Ma, In-between ».

A deep attention to details here and there, finding without searching.

No boundaries, no limits, only emotions.

Shared intuitions, discoveries and failure for richer experiences. Music, photography, design, poetry.

Ma, In-between

Luxophonic is currently working on a new release « Ma, In-between ».

There is a moment when you have to press pause.

Wether you do it to take a look at your surroundings and breathe a little, or to escape the rush of world as it pushes against you, or maybe even just stop and look at yourself.

That moment, when you take it, should be valued, treasured, and held dear. You never know when it might come around again.

After the acclaimed CD « C’est Merveilleux » exploring the sunny sides of 1970’s music and lifestyle, LUXOPHONIC new project Ma, in-between, is an attempt to find the truth behind the visible and fast moving sides of the existence, considering numerous creative and artistic points of view.

If we’ve learned one thing during the years we’ve been thinking about Ma, it’s that there is not a single way to express it, but an infinite number of possible ones. The constant re-invention of our perception is one of the ways we can make something abstract live in the present. The creation feels different from day to day as we respond to it in new ways, both as a record label and as individuals.

That’s also why we decided to federate a stimulating cooperation between artists and creative people of all kind, turning Luxophonic into an interdisciplinary platform: music but also photography, painting, poetry, illustration.

Ma is originally a Japanese word related to music. It means an interval in time and sounds, but it’s much more than just a blank space. It can best described as a concept of potentialities between two different spaces, two structural parts, two actions.

Ma is the empty space, the in-between, the silence, the pause, the emptiness, the interval, the distance, the timing… It symbolizes the source and the essence of all shapes, of all music, beyond time and space.

In other words, Ma is not something that is created by compositional elements: Ma gives shape to the whole simply using the imagination and the human experience, considering the richness of all potentialities.

“It could be like a break on the radio. Such signals sometimes sound as if they lasted an entire life. Or future, or past, outside time. A blade of grass has the status of a flower.” Arvo Pärt
